Don't let Byron Bay's laid-back feel fool you: Byron Bay has an events calendar that's busier than the average socialite's diary. Regardless of the time of year you visit, you're all but guaranteed to find that there's a significant event taking place in Byron Bay. Byron Bay's events run the gamut from the musical to the cultural to the athletic, so whatever your preferences you're likely to find activities and events that interest you.

Byron Bay is home to two popular annual cultural events: the Byron Bay International Film Festival, and the Byron Bay Writers' Festival, both of which attract notables from far and wide. Music-themed events in Byron Bay include the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival, Splendour in the Grass, and the Byron Latin Fiesta. If you're athletically inclined, you'll enjoy watching, and perhaps participating in, events such as the Ben King Memorial Surf Classic, the Ocean Swim Classic, the Byron Bay Triathlon, and the Byron Lighthouse Run.

Other fun events worth seeing include the East Coast Sculpture Show, the Underwater Festival, the Big Joke Comedy Festival, and the Bangalow Show. Seasonal holiday events include Schoolies Week, when recent high school graduates descend on Byron Bay for all sorts of fun and entertainment, and also Christmas, Easter, and New Year's celebrations.

Not all events run on an annual basis, or take place during the same calendar month each year, so it's worth keeping an eye on Byron Bay's calendar to ensure that you don't miss the Byron Bay event that you're hoping to see.
